Launch of the AgriMip Innovation / Aerospace Valley innovation club
What if, in the future, satellites could allow us to monitor crop development with great precision... and give farmers the opportunity to adapt their use of fertilisers to meet the precise requirements of each land parcel? This vision of the future is being realised today, with the creation of the ?Satellites et Agriculture? (Satellites and Agriculture) club.

On 24 November, for the very first time in France, two competitiveness clusters, AgriMip Innovation and Aerospace Valley, launched a joint innovation club. Known as the "Satellites and Agriculture? club, its inaugural meeting brought together 24 key players (companies and laboratories) from these two sectors. They include: 2GA, Actia, Agri-Intranet, Arterris, Arvalis, CNES, CS, CUMA, Geosys, Infoterra, INRA, LAAS, Nav on Time, Noveltis, Pioneer, Spot Image, Sulky, Terres de Gascogne, Université Toulouse 2.

The club's mission: to create synergies so that necessary developments in the agricultural sector can benefit from technological resources deployed in the field of aerospace and embedded systems.

Farmers are currently facing a major challenge: how to maintain agricultural productivity whilst at the same time reducing their use of fertilisers and plant disease management products.
Although the fulfilment of this objective requires new agronomic approaches, it would also be widely facilitated by the development of decision support technologies.

"Satellites and Agriculture" will therefore work towards the implementation of collaborate programmes promoting the development of crop management products and services. Their end-goal: to promote the production of competitive agri-products that meet consumers' needs both in terms of productivity and respect for human health and the environment.
